The shrine has been made from old wooden matchsticks. The base rises in steps to a glass fronted box with a picture of the Madonna and Child. Above the box rises a crucifix with a metal inset crucifix. The structure is entirely made from old matchsticks. Darker pieces wood sticks to add contrast.

There are no marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

8 7/8 in (22.5 cm) wide x 6 7/8 in (17.5 cm) deep x 17 ½ in (44.4 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lbs 2 oz (950 g)

CONDITION

The structure is intact. There is a matchstick missing on the edge below the glass front. The back has two spots on the corners of the base with no matchsticks. There are two matchsticks missing on the top back of the crucifix. There is also some paint on the bottom. The shrine is in fantastic shape, especially considering the age and how fragile the piece is.
