Some color loss near gilt trim. If you look very closely, each plate shows signs of a gilt trim on the interior circle of the plate. Over time this has worn off, almost completely in some cases; as if it was never part of the design. Please review the photos carefully. It took me time to recognize this imperfection. Unique set of six (6) French Limoges dinner plates. Designed and crafted by Limoges in France, these plates were then exported in the early 1900's to NYC retailer Higgens & Seiter.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, featured a Higgens & Seiter "illustrated price catalogue of fine china, crystal, artware and home furnishings", written in 1913 or 1914. Included in this catalogue are the dishes being sold here today.
