A scarce rustic Baroque period fruitwood and walnut center table from the Iberian Peninsula, most likely Spanish / possibly Portugese origin. circa 1675
Born in the second half of the seventeenth century, featuring exceptional primitive period construction, rich coloring, warmth and superb patina.
Having a large, thick single board plank slab top with desirable overhang, above two generous frieze drawers with hand cut dovetail joints, geometric panels, affixed with the original rounded pull fittings and ornate forged black iron escutcheon, elaborate ornamental chip carvings, scalloped apron, rising on substantial box stretcher joined turned baluster-form leg base, resting on bun feet.
Beautifully aged patina over the whole, rich antique wood glow, superb grain detail, lustrous sheen, highly desirable worn, naturally distressed finish adding to the overall antique character and historical old world charm.
As warm and attractive as it is useful, this rare refined European farmhouse antique can be used a variety of different ways, including as a side table, centre / library table, writing desk, oversized hall console or entry piece, wine tasting, sideboard server, work bench or kitchen island to name just a few.
