ISA (Industria Salotti e Arredamenti), often called ISA Bergamo, was a prominent Italian furniture manufacturer, established in the late 1940s in Ponte San Pietro, near Bergamo. Known for its high-quality craftsmanship and collaborations with notable designers, ISA produced pieces that became staples of Italian mid-century design. During the 1950s and 1960s, ISA worked with influential designers such as Gio Ponti, Guglielmo Veronesi, and Sergio Rodrigues, creating iconic pieces that are now highly valued in vintage markets.
The company’s production included elegant seating, like Veronesi’s “Perla” armchairs, and the striking “Sheriff” lounge chair by Rodrigues, which exemplify ISA’s signature blend of modernist aesthetics with luxurious materials. Their designs, often in plush fabrics or fine leather paired with wood, reflected the Italian mid-century modern style and were featured in prestigious publications such as Domus. Today, vintage ISA pieces remain highly sought after for their distinct style and quality, frequently appearing in high-end galleries and auctions worldwide. less
