The origin of the curule stool is slightly debated, but most would agree that its design came from ancient Egypt originally. The design was later adopted by the Greeks, then later the Romans.
In ancient Rome the curule stool (or chair) was the seat of the magistrates and other individuals of significant influence and power. Even into the renaissance era the curule chair was still seen as "the seat of authority".
I wanted to design this piece in a way that it would bear the form of classical antiquity, but still have a place in contemporary settings.
This curule stool is made of hand forged iron, oak and genuine leather.
