A truly remarkable museum-quality antique English Regency traveler’s writing folding desk set that is rich with history. The box is Campaign, hand-crafted in the United Kingdom in the mid to late 1800s.
It is rectangular in form, made from wood with intricate bone inlay. It has compartments for the two glass inkwells and the tooled leather writing surface can be lifted up using the original key to reveal a storage compartment on each side.
Inside one of the compartments is a note that dates back to April of 1936, an envelope labeled “mortgage”, and an antique Barch-Payzant lettering pen still in the package from the early 1920s. The underside is protected by a green felt lining. Initials can be found engraved into the hardware, as pictured.
The listed measurements are for the box when it is folded.
