Description: This impressive pair of Chinese jumu square corner cabinets were made in the 18th century. Each comes with a traditional … more This impressive pair of Chinese jumu square corner cabinets were made in the 18th century. Each comes with a traditional Chinese brass lock. The interior of each has two drawers and a hidden compartment. The cabinets stand on a fitted base original to the pieces.

The brass lock plates are decorated with butterflies, indicating that these were likely a wedding gift or associated with a marriage ceremony. Amongst the Chinese rare woods, Jumu is the most accessible while still remaining unique. The cabinets each bear the character Fu the Chinese character for wealth on the back in a red diamond. One bears a Chinese export customs seal on the interior of the door, this. type has been noted as 1990's. less
