Stunning Japanese Showa period screen depicting stylized gilt peonies and chrysanthemums in a moriage (raised pigment) style on rock work. The scene features colorful silver and gilt metallic finishes over a gold square background. The painting is set in an unusual gilt painted frame with a light silk brocade border and patinated brass trim on the borders and corners. Very good condition given age and use. From an estate in San Francisco, CA. Kyoto, Japan label on verso corner.
