Vintage Chinese Large Hand Carved and Gilded Wood Panel
Elaborate and deeply carved wood panel dates from the end of the 19th century. The dark burgundy red lacquered background has an inner carved giltwood faux rope frame. Two paradise birds perch on the branches of a peony tree where three peony flowers are in bloom. The many richly detailed layers of the carving give the panel a dramatic three dimensional appearance. The large scale carving has a serene, tranquil quality.
Condition is very good. Some gilding is refreshed.
