- Set of 3 unique vintage Madeira fingertip guest towels. Each of these fine linen towels are decorated with a black … more Set of 3 unique vintage Madeira fingertip guest towels. Each of these fine linen towels are decorated with a black shadow appliquéd and embroidered rose and a grey embroidered stem with leaves. White embroidery stitches are used to give the black roses shading and depth. Note: Black appliqué is highly unusual in mid century household linens, as is using shadow appliqué on such small pieces. These were made in Madeira, Portugal in the 1950s-60s. The bottom edge is finished with a satin stitch and the other 3 sides are hemmed. Excellent condition with no holes or tears.
