This black-and-white photograph from the 1950s captures a solitary figure gazing over the vast, rugged landscape surrounding Lake Powell in the American Southwest. The foreground reveals arid, rocky terrain scattered with sparse vegetation, emphasizing the stark beauty of the desert environment. Andres, born in 1905 in Germany, began his photography career in 1920 and was one of the pioneers to use a Leica camera.
