Who is David Gueron Degue
David Gueron, known as Degue, was a prominent glassmaker during the Art Deco period. Born in Turkey in 1892, Gueron moved to France and founded the Cristalleries de Compiègne in the 1920s, later renamed Verrerie d'Art Degue. His workshop became renowned for its exquisite glassware, particularly cameo glass, which featured intricate designs and vibrant colors. Degue's works epitomized the Art Deco style, characterized by geometric patterns, bold lines, and luxurious materials. Despite facing competition from contemporaries like René Lalique, Degue's pieces remain highly valued for their artistic merit and craftsmanship. His legacy continues to influence decorative glass art today.
