The glass disk at the top was originally to catch smoke from candles or oil, and in the electric era has remained as a purely decorative element. This lantern is a relatively new reproduction. Made from delicately blown amethyst glass in a rounded onion shape and a clear smoke bell. The glass is suspended by three beak like hooks on an ornate ring. The bottom of the lantern is finished with a bronze finial. It has a three light cluster in the center. Metals are finished in a blackened bronze. Complete with canopy and hanging hardware. bottom glass is 11.5" tall. less
