Add a beautiful shine to your home with this important eye-catching sun mirror. Created in Italy circa 1990 and almost five feet in diameter, the large vintage mirror has a classic sunbeam shape with outstretching rays, a central circular beveled mirror plate encircled by a carved and gilt band. The wall decor is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich antique patinated gilt finish. Versatile, the mirror could be placed over a mantel, in a hallway or in an entry over a commode or console table.
The sunburst, a captivating decorative motif, finds its origins intertwined with the radiant halos that graced figures in medieval religious artworks. The rich history of the sunburst mirror unfurls its earliest threads in the era of the Sun King.
