The Blenko Glass Company, founded in 1921 by Bill Blenko in Milton, West Virginia, is renowned for its hand-blown glass products, particularly its colorful glassware and art pieces. Initially focused on producing functional glass items, the company evolved into a significant player in the art glass movement during the mid-20th century, known for its innovative designs and vibrant colors.

Joel Myers (b.1934) attended the Parsons School of Design, Kunsthåndværkerskolen in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Alfred University. Myers worked as a Blenko glass designer from 1964-1971 when he left to accept the position of Professor of Art at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He is active and lives in Illinois. His work is included in the collections of the American Craft Museum, New York, The Hokkaido Museum of Modernist Art, Japan, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. less
