A rather large signed vintage studio production art ceramic vase by Inger Persson for Rörstrand, Sweden. This is a studio production, thus very rare, with a fantastic shape colors and glazing. As always, her work is simple and clean, yet so effectful, the shape is classic and the pattern on the glazing subtle, the colors are a combination of a vibrant blue at the top part, contrasted with a combination of pale and warm brown parts with a simple pattern, which make the vase so elegant and sophisticated. It is in a great condition and the price includes free shipping.
It is 23.5cm high and 9cm in diameter (9.25" and 3.54")
Rörstrand- where tradition meet innovation with the result of worldclass production of mid-century modern pottery.
Mentioning Lisa Larson, Stig Lindberg, Herta Bengtsson and Gunnar Nylund to name a few, one automatically associates those talented and prestigious designers with Rörstrand. Their contribution as well as many other talented designers rendered this company a position as one of the world leading firms when it came to interesting and award-winning mid-century modern design. Their interest and knowledge about interior design and decoration fused with craftmanship about ceramic and glazing. They have over the years manufactured and produced many well-known items and managed to be one of the most famous brands in the world, when it comes to both esthetically as well as functional ceramics goods.
Other famous designers and their contributions.
Other talented designers worth mentioning are Hertha Bengtsson, Carl-Harry Stålhane, Marianne Westman, Bertil Wallien, Olle Alberius, Inger Persson and Ulla Procopé. During the 1950s-70s they have all created some timeless art ceramic interior design items in forms of art objects, figures and vases, highly appreciated, still all over the world, generating them a special status in the lovers of modern Scandinavian design as well as retro and vintage lovers.
Yet the history of the company is very old.
Rörstrand porcelain was one of the most famous Swedish porcelain manufacturers, with production initially at Karlbergskanalen in Stockholm, Sweden. Formed as a company in 1726, Rörstrand soon became the number one of the nation's largest ceramic factories. As time progressed, they became more and more prestigious and produced goods for various royal households all over Europe. The fame gained meant that they could constantly reinvent themselves and be in the forefront when it came to various designs. Their heyday as contemporary and mid-century modern design company started in the 1930s, when the focus partly shifted from producers of household goods to pure interior design objects. They soon became cutting edge and the world started to be appreciative of their sleek, elegant and sophisticated style. Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larson are perhaps the reason why Swedish Pottery has gained international fame, and for good reasons!
