Pair of small poodle dog figurines, represented seated; true pair, as each is turned on one side for a mirror effect
In old porcelain, partly in granite / crispy relief to represent the curly coat, painted details on the mouth & golden collars
English work from Staffordshire, Victorian style
The original inspiration is said to have been Dash, Queen Victoria's Kings Charles spaniel, produced from 1845; the "authentic" & more sought-after ones have the characteristics of having separately molded front legs, a curly tail and a well-defined nose!
Early 20th century
Very good condition, some traces of time (gilding a little faded in places)
