These hooks are from my own collection and originally belonged to my mother-in-law. She was a fashion consultant for the high end Joseph Magnin department store in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Joseph Magnin closed all its stores in 1980, and employees were invited to take fixtures and furniture. These hooks were among the items salvaged by my mother-in-law. They have been in storage since 1980.

Label on reverse identifies the maker as Glo-Mar Artworks in Brooklyn, New York. Glo-Mar Artworks made high quality metal sculptures and decorative items from the 1930s until its closure in the 1970s. They produced a variety of items such as lamps and candlesticks, and were particularly known for their nautical-themed pieces. Glo-Mar designs were popular with interior designers, architects, and yacht owners. Vintage pieces are highly collectible and sought after by collectors of midcentury design. less
