The armrests have … more A tall-back, yet slim profile Jacobean oak settle with three panels and compelling carving to the top. The armrests have scrolled ends and the settle is raised on petite turned feet. The bench is of joined and pegged form and has traces of the use of an adze.

The settle has a few ancient minor repairs (to be expected) and more recent hinges on the top of the bench, which opens for storage, and has a great color with a rich patina built up over 400 years. The bench is strong and stable and ready to be used for its an original purpose for seating and would have originally been against a wall. Ideal for a narrow hallway, mudroom, or entryway. less
