An Italian aubergine (light-eggplant) and gold embossed leather jewelry box with brass closure, circa mid-20th century, Italy. Box has a suede interior with a area for rings (demonstrated) and other jewelry (shown holding earrings and necklaces.) I really love this aubergine hue/color, haven't come across before. Box has beautiful hand applied gold tooling on top lid and around sides and lower base. Marked 'Made in Italy' on bottom/underside as shown in last image. Dimensions: 4.07" Depth x 2.25" Height x 6" Width.
