Canadian Art Glass company Chalet created these stunning and signature Rubino or Ruby blown glass lead crystal pieces in the 1960s. Also known as "Canadiana Cranberry."
"Chalet used (a) precious metal to enhance their artistry. Gold was used to produce a deep, rich and long lasting rubino colour. This intense ruby colouring is achieved through adding gold salts or colloidal gold to molten glass."
This beautiful piece of hand blown heavy art glass features three face "prunts" designed by Maestro Sergio Pagnin, his signature. (the prunt technique: a small blob of glass applied or fused to another larger piece of glass.) The pink ruby color fades in an ombre effect to clear crystal at the bottom.
