- In Excellent Antique Condition-
The Antique McDougall Hoosier Cabinet is a classic piece of kitchen furniture that showcases solid wood construction, an enamel countertop, and metal hinges. This cabinet became an essential fixture in many American homes in the early 20th century, revolutionizing home cooking.
Key Features:
- Lower section includes three drawers (one being a bread box) and also a cabinet door that opens to the pie safe with an extendable pie rack. There is a metal holder on the inside of this door for storing pie tins, etc.
- Upper section:
- Left side has a large flour sifter behind a cabinet door with a pull-down door that covers the lower part of the sifter when not in use.
- Two upper cabinet doors provide access to two shelves for storage. These cabinet doors also feature interior metal racks for spices, a cookbook holder, and other miscellaneous items (see images). There is also a roll door that opens to an open area with a hinged metal pie holder for easy movement.
The McDougall Company, known for producing high-quality Hoosier cabinets, was based in Frankfort, Indiana, and is celebrated for its craftsmanship and innovative designs.
