Becmeur was a prominent figure in the arts and art education scene during the mid to late 20th century, known not only for his artwork but also for his contributions as an academic and author for the esteemed l'Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His most significant collaboration was in the publication of the influential art text Introduction to Visual Arts in 1967, an authoritative textbook that shaped the education of future artists in mid-century France.

Dupas" appears in the top left-hand corner, a subject referenced in other known paintings by Becmeur.
