Flat woven in durable, unshifting wool, this antique style is characterized by the soaring, highly stylized realistic floral symbols wrapping the border and dominating the bouquet-style medallions of the field, complemented by rich red, shaded pink, and delicate green color ways. More unique to this eastern interpretation of European sensibilities is the stark black background to the piece, a rare choice emphasizing the brighter colors as well as offering dimensionality to portrait.
