C.1970s; Vintage Italian Venetian, handblown Murano Glass and Brass Table Lamps by Carlo Nason, for Mazzega . We understand that Carlo Nason designed many pieces of lighting for both Venini and Mazzega Murano Glass Blowing Foundries/Lighting Collections. as this is the stamp of his work. We were so tickled pink when we came across these highly unusual lamps.
The Murano shades here are; a quasi folded over, handkerchief, or wet-drapery motif design, thick-walled Murano glass with an allover bubble inclusions amidst a misty translucent/transparency like look, especially as when lit, the light refracting thru this creates an alluring overall effect. There are 2 holes on each Murano shade, whereupon there is a screw protruding from the cylindrical tube top section of the brass body, with a finial round ball on the end that fits into and through the Murano Shade and attaches to the brass base. There are also, 2 each plastic, circular loop bumpers to place between the brass and Murano shade, and brass, in addition to and between the Murano shade and metal round final ball fitting/ screw, a feature to not chip the Murano, but also a stabilizer, congruent and consistent with this type of Mazzega or Vennini manufactured Murano lighting. There is a metal loop clamped to one of the wired lamps, that states, "Made in Italy." We an certainly make an image available at the ready, but there were so many images we wished to showcase these superb lamps, that we ran out of room in the amount of images accorded to us per listing. Pls. inquire via comments if you wish to see nay additional images. Original wiring and in working condition, with an on/off slide switch. We poised the brass and in the midst of putting a sealer on them. The bulb is similar to the tube lighting one sees in Koch & Lowy Lighting, but longer, to cover across the width of the Murano Glass shade, and illuminate it in it's entirety. In great condition, minor wear due to age of manufacturer and use. otherwise great, sculptural pair of lamps.
