This adorable vintage 18k gold fly pin is beautifully rendered with tiny, sweet details. The wings, legs, and abdomen are lifelike, while an emerald cabochon as the thorax adds a playful pop of green. Fly symbolism has been around since the Victorian era, when it was a popular motif used to represent humility. We also love the connotation of being a fly on the wall: a quiet but wise listener and observer. Bought on a recent buying trip to Madrid, this great little pin adds a stylish detail to a blouse, tie, or lapel.
The pin weighs 1.4 grams and measures 9/16 x 9/16”. The natural emerald cabochon measures 4.25 x 3.4 mm. The pin has a tension opening that holds it securely in place. Marked as 750, with a registration number and maker’s mark.
