This wonderful portrait of a bull is by French artist Edouard Righetti, a Swiss born Mid-Century artist (b.1924) known primarily for his work in painting and printmaking. Rhigetti has been widley exhibited and collected, including in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
Though he was born Swiss, he moved away early in life and spent most of his life living and creating in France. He was known for his stylistic depictions of peasants, animals, landscapes and the sadness of suburbia. Righetti participated in numerous Salons and exhibitions internationally during his career and is a listed artist who is widely collected and frequently auctioned. Righetti often signed his art "Ed" as you will note on this work dated 1957. This energetic and exquisite mixed media work is a snapshot of animal farm life in Mid-Century Spain which he is known for. You will note that this piece is titled "Madrid".
