The Gabbianelli Longobarda ceramic lamp, designed by Marcello Cuneo in 1966, represents a pinnacle of Italian industrial design. This table lamp, crafted from a single piece of white ceramic, showcases the balance of simplicity and functionality that defines mid-century modern design. Awarded the "Andrea Palladio" prize for industrial design in 1967, the Longobarda lamp was recognized for its innovative approach to ceramics. Its prominence was further solidified when it was featured in the 1972 "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" exhibition at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), a significant moment in Italian design history. It was also part of the "Introduction to Design" exhibition at the Israel Museum in 1973. This large model of the Longobarda lamp remains in excellent condition, with minor chips at the base that are not visible when in use, and it retains its original label on the base. Its clean, minimalist form and understated elegance make it suitable for a wide range of interior environments, from professional office settings to modern residential spaces. This rare and sought-after piece is an excellent addition to any collection of mid-century or industrial design, offering both practicality and aesthetic value. The Longobarda lamp is a testament to Marcello Cuneo’s enduring influence on 20th-century design.
