I think it is the symmetry and the perfect weight of the table legs and the size of the glass triangle. The glass is amazing - just under an inch thick (.8", 20mm). The legs are wrapped in precision crafted dark brown Russian saddle leather. I took a close up -look at that stitching! The word scalene means that no two sides are of equal length, so it is an irregular triangle which is a lot more interesting and appealing to look at.

It's a great table for the proper space, but at 28.5" tall, it would also double as an impressive work desk. It's vintage and modern, if that's possible. Designed in 1991.

The glass is quite heavy, which means it's durable as well. The legs detach. There is a small inclusion at one of the corners, which is the only defect I see.
There are no markings to identify the designer, identification was made by photographic comparisons to know brand. less
