riccardo licata was already active at the venini glas factory in 1950. He was the inventor of the inclusion of murines in the manufacture of glassware in 1953. (cf. “vetro veneziano 1890-1990” by rosa barovier-mentasti – ed. Arsenale – 1992 – p. 111, 112)

riccardo licata, born december 20, 1929 in turin and died february 18, 2014 (aged 84) in venice, was an italian painter, sculptor and engraver.
biography :
after a brief parenthesis in paris, his family moved to rome where he stayed until 1945. From 1946, licata lived in venice.
he studied at the artistic high school and at the school of fine arts in venice from 1947 to 1955.
• 1951: his first personal exhibition is held in venice.
• 1955: scholarship from the french government to study engraving in paris with johnny friedlaender, hayter and goetz.
• 1957: assistant to gino severini at the italian school of art in paris.
• 1961: he marries maria battistella, singer and researcher in renaissance music, from whom he will have his son giovanni the following year.
• 1961-1995: head professor of the mosaic workshop at the national school of fine arts in paris.
• 1969: professor of fine arts at the sorbonne, of engraving at the académie goetz (paris).
• 1972-1992: professor at the international school of experimental engraving in venice and at the american school of architecture in fontainebleau.
riccardo licata invented his personal plastic alphabet which he declined in paintings, tapestries, engravings, sculptures.
personal exhibitions
more than 300 in 35 different countries. From 1952, riccardo licata exhibited at the venice biennale, the são paulo biennale in brazil, tokyo, paris, ljubljana, alexandria in egypt and the rome quadrennial, the milan triennial, all as in the main parisian salons. This piece has an attribution mark,
