This ceramic … more Gorgeous traditional lidded porcelain apothecary jar, handmade in the workshops of the Lunéville factory in 19th century France.
This ceramic apothecary jar was traditionally used for storing medicinal substances.
It is decorated with hand-painted floral patterns in blue, orange, and green hues.
The word “Opium” is inscribed in a classical font. The shape of the jar is elegant, with a bulbous body that tapers into a footed base, and the lid is adorned with a finial at the top, matching the floral motif around its rim.
It bears the original hand painted signature and is in excellent condition.
This highly sought jar of Opium is fabulous for display in a cabinet, on a bookshelf, or on a table.
The Lunéville factory, established in the early 18th century in France, became renowned for its faience (tin-glazed earthenware) and later porcelain production. It gained particular fame for its Rococo-inspired designs and floral motifs, contributing significantly to French ceramic art.
