These animal sculpture … more Superb pair of Maison Lancel gilt bronze sconces, wall lights with original white ruffled Opaline glass shade.
These animal sculpture sconces feature an elegant design with a blend of classical and marine motifs. They were made in the style of E. Guillemard 1950 in France. The body is crafted in bronze, with the central decorative element being a stylized fish, which curls upwards to support the lights. Each sconce has a tulip-shaped opaline glass shade with scalloped edges, adding a soft contrast to the metallic finish. The base of each glass shade is cradled in a shell-like form, enhancing the nautical theme. The overall aesthetic is luxurious, combining gilded details and opaline glass for a refined, antique look.
They are in perfect working condition and each sconce takes one bulb max. 60 watts.
Add some French mid century sophistication decor to your home with these timeless pieces.
La Maison Lancel, a renowned French luxury brand known for its leather goods, expanded into elegant home accessories, including lighting, in the late 1940s and early 1950s as part of its post-war growth. Their lighting designs showcased sophisticated modernist aesthetics and high-quality materials, blending luxury and functionality to fit mid-century interiors. However, this diversification was short-lived till the early 1960s, making their vintage lighting pieces rarer and more collectible today.
There are no makers marks or signatures on these pieces.
