Late 18th-early 19th century capriccio (imaginary) landscape, Continental. Shepherds & animals gathered as one plays his woodwind instrument. Acquired in the late 1940s by Harvey Gunter while on his year in Paris when studying at Parsons School of Design (from the Estate of Harvey Gunter, Chapel Hill, NC). Restored in 2012 - documented on reverse. Previous restorations noted, commensurate with early works. Oil on canvas on original paper board. Canvas: 25.5" x 20".
