This is an original Pochoir Stencil hand painted fashion plate illustration from 1908. Paul Iribe, titled "Les Robes de Paul Poiret racontées par Paul Tribe," is a beautiful piece of art that captures the essence of Women’s fashion illustration in the early 1900s. One of the best illustrations realized by Paul Iribe for "Les Robes de Paul Poiret" in 1908, a well known fashion designer during the first two decades of the 20th century. The stencil is made of ink, paper, and paint, and features a woman in one of Paris dress designer Paul Poiret’s high waisted gowns. The stencil is signed by Paul Iribe (in plate front left corner) and is an original piece from France, produced using the stencil Pochoir technique. This item is matted & framed, and is ready to be hung, measuring 16 3/4 inches in height & 14 3/4” in length. Actual stencil is 12.21 inches in height & 10.83 inches in length. This is a must-have for any art collector or lover of fashion illustration, especially an original work of Paul Iribe.
Paul Iribe (June 8, 1883-September 21, 1935) Famous French fashion illustrator, who collaborated with the pioneers in fashion like Paul Poiret, Coco Chanel & film maker Cecil DeMille. Iribe favored the liberal display of fluid forms, more in concordance with the design elements which were the hallmark of the Art Nouveau movement—poufs, lamé textiles; walls hung with tapestries, and carpeted floors. His work is in many museums and art collections worldwide.

Wear & use consistent with age. Upon close examination, there are minor age spots in paper & there is a small crease tear in paper at left top of frame & ripple along matting on upper right side. This does not take away from the beauty of this lovely historical piece. Stencil is framed and protected behind plexiglass, ready to be hung. less
