Artist bio:

Karl Nathan Black has been creating magnificent works of art for more than four decades. Among the many unique qualities of his artwork is his wide range of subject matter and mastery of multiple mediums. Whether it is his stunning black and white graphite drawings of silver screen legends of the 1930’s, 1940’s, and 1950’s, his colorful interpretation of screen and stage icons, or his dramatic florals that visually leap off the wall.

The art of Karl Nathan Black is superbly crafted and visually stunning. In his own words he says, “I’ve always been able to draw and paint, since my childhood, I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of being a master draftsman and painter. I aspire to be among the best in the world.”

He continues, “My earliest influences were the lyrical drawings and paintings of N.C. Wyeth. As a child, I remember how his drawings and paintings took me to mystical lands and magical places where giants roamed the landscape and pirates sailed the silver seas. As I grew older my work became heavily influenced by the beautiful and delicate drawings of Edgar Degas and the deeply moody paintings of Edward Hopper.

His series of florals is a personal journey back to his birth place of Maui, Hawaii. The artist states, “Whenever I return to my homeland of Hawaii, it is the fragrance and beauty of the flowers that awaken my senses and tell me that I am truly home.

The drawings and paintings of Karl Nathan Black have exhibited throughout the world.
