Lacquered box with fake paper and little flowers from the late 1700s. Made in shades of blue and decorated on all sides with flowers and racemes in pink and gold.
The peculiarity of this rectangular painted wooden casket from the 18th century is in the decoration of the lid, a fake sheet of paper with a crumpled corner at the bottom right, on which a Cupid with bow and arrow is drawn with an ink nib in the box on the left , a coastal landscape with boat and architecture in the box on the right.
The decoration bears the author's signature at the bottom, again in indecipherable ink, P.Cav. Follius Calamo Fecit. The inside of this antique jewelry box is painted red. The box is in good condition. Of Italian origin, it dates back to the late 1700s.
This vintage box came to us equipped with hinges, but improper ones, considering the small thickness of the wood near the hinges and the presence of a small frame framing the external perimeter; this detail led us to think that the lid was placed on it without being fixed; therefore we proceeded to restore the original state.
