The seat shell consists exclusively of vertically and horizontally arranged plywood struts. The design was completely revolutionary in terms of form and construction. The Scandia Chair has received numerous international awards, including the gold medal at the International Craft Fair in Munich in 1967. Hans Brattrud was honored with the Royal Norwegian Gold Medal of Merit in 2008 for his life's work.
