Description: This utterly gorgeous antique chaise lounge chair (sometimes called a ‘fainting couch’) is estimated to have been handcrafted in the … more This utterly gorgeous antique chaise lounge chair (sometimes called a ‘fainting couch’) is estimated to have been handcrafted in the late 1800’s. Its Louis XVI design style was a popular one during the time it was made. Measuring approximately 68-inches in length, the frame of the chaise is painted white and appears to almost have an antiqued finish, as well as gold accents that dot the ‘headboard,’ as well as the arms of the chair. The headboard and frame were also crafted using caning to fortify its structure. Quite uniquely, this chaise lounge also has six legs to support its very long frame. As was customary at the time, the cushion was stuffed with animal hair, which likely came from a horse. The coarse hair on the interior makes this cushion very heavy — it’s very easily the heaviest single component of this piece! Not only will the neutral color palette allow the chair to fit into tons of color and design schemes, this chair will also instantly elevate the elegance & sophistication of any space that it’s placed in! less
