The stool's three splayed legs are supported by stretcher bars that interlock at the center to form a triangle. Not only does this provide stability, it adds a sense of balance and design intrigue to the otherwise simple form. The stool has gained a beautifully textured finish from over a century of use. A painted character on the underside of the seat identifies its previous owner, who likely used the stool daily as a form of casual seating.
