The newly re-upholstered seats, recovered in a rich genuine Italian leather hide, provide comfort and style, while the sculpted concave backrests offer a unique and modern touch. The chairs are set on tapered legs that give the design a clean and minimalist look. With the rise of Danish furniture becoming internationally recognized, Anderson was a reputable component in Danish Design. Like many of the other iconic designers in Danish Modern Design, Anderson honed his craft by firstly completing his apprenticeship in cabinetry. By the mid-1930s, when Danish modern design rose in popularity beyond Denmark, he opened his own workshop. He continued to work with other design houses as well, including CFC Silkeborg and Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark as well as Trensum in Sweden. The most notable aspect of his designs were the curves that he used in unexpected and truly extraordinary ways, which are on full display in this splendid set of 'Juliane' chairs.
