The engraving depicts the face of Jesus Christ layered over an image of Veronica’s Veil, a veil that hangs in the Vatican and was allegedly used to wipe tears from Jesus’ face on the cross. This print has the blue Papal ‘Gratis’ seal printed to the lower left, confirming that this piece touched the original Veronica’s Veil, touched the wood of the True Cross, and touched the spear that pierced Jesus’ side.
