Traditional Mille Fleur all over design hand painted Hat Stand in beautifully shaded multi coloured enamels.
Hats represented rank and status in Chinese culture. Important hats would not just be left lying around. The hat stand provided an elegant way to display the fancy hats. The holes provided air circulation to keep the hats ventilated. The base of this piece is drilled so it can be used as a lamp base as well.
The underside stamped "CHINA" and a dynasty mark in red.
Early 20th Century.
