Description: This magnificent mid 19 century Chinese altar table with everted ends features 4 pairs hand carved clouds spandrels on both … more This magnificent mid 19 century Chinese altar table with everted ends features 4 pairs hand carved clouds spandrels on both front and back and round post legs. It was handed made around mid 19th century by the craftsman from Shanxi province, a province with rich history and culture in the Northern part of China. Solid construction, naturally aged wood showing age proper patinas, dents, knots, lines, spots, and wear and tears. The restoration to this antique table from countryside of Shanxi Province is kept to minimum intentionally. The round straight legs are mitered to the top. A fine example of traditional Chinese joinery: every piece of wood is calculated to interlock in a seamless way to provide structural strength and enhances the beauty of the design. This almost 9 feet long altar table with its original brown color, 4 pairs hand carved clouds spandrels, beautiful aged top, and everted ends will make an astonishing Asian console table in a large living room, dining room, hall way or entryway. The height with everted ends is 35" high.
