Woodcut in colors on vélin pur chiffon de Rives paper. Inscription: Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued. Catalogue Raisonne Reference: Michler/Löpsinger 1039-1138; Field 189-200. Good condition; unframed. Notes: From the folio, La Divine Comédie, 1963. Published by Éditions d'Art Les Heures Claires, Paris; rendered by Raymond Jacquet, Paris; printed by l'imprimerie M. Jacquet, Paris, November 23, 1963. This French-language edition of "La Divine Comédie" by Dante Alighieri in the translation by Julien Brizeux was entirely made in Paris. It required fifty-five months of patient and assiduous work. Started in April 1959, it was completed on November 23, 1963. Two ateliers have attached their name to this monumental work: the printing works Jacquet and Daragnes. The printing of the illustrations was carried out in Nébiolo in the M. Jacquet printing company under the direction of Raymond Jacquet assisted by Jean Taricco and Paul Massin. The pressers are Marcel Marsillac, Roger Fontaine, Claude Marsillac, Gérard Favien, Francis Merat. The engraving of the three thousand five hundred woods necessary for the exceptional reconstruction of Salvador Dali's hundred watercolors is the work of Raymond Jacquet with the collaboration of Jean Taricco. The text composed by hand in Meridian Body Twenty by Madeleine Jacquet was drawn by l'imprimerie Daragnes.
SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989) Salvador Dali's work is associated with the surrealist movement of the 20th Century. A diverse and multi-talented artist, Dali is considered one of the most collected artists today, and his works offer an incredible opportunity for enormous appreciation in value. In addition to his original works, Dali produced works on paper for reproduction using dry point, etching, woodcut, and lithography. Many of his works are held in prestigious private and public collections world-wide. less
