Hand-knotted in wool circa 1960-1970, this 5x9 vintage rug is an exciting new piece in Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a rare curation believed to hail from mid-century Turkish artist and icon Zeki Müren.
On The Design:
One of the many arts of this piece is the variety of colors, and the smart way they’re used to lend such a playful sense of movement and modern mid-century flair to an otherwise soothing repeat of abstract patterns—a mark of finesse considered one of Müren’s many hallmarks. Admirers of the craft will further appreciate the way such uncommon colors for the period breath a modern sense of life (though the deft hand behind such a fine repeat with so many color variations is ahead of its time as well). Though polychromatic in its colorway, keen eyes will note a particular chocolate brown undertone in the field.
