- This is a very rare pair of Galle glasses (from Nancy, France) issued in 1901 on the occasion of the … more This is a very rare pair of Galle glasses (from Nancy, France) issued in 1901 on the occasion of the visit of the Tsar Nicolas II and the Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna to France in September 18-21 1901. The trip was to visit Dunkerque, Compiegne and Reims. The Galle glass company was one the most influential in the history of glass making at the turn of the 20th century. The glasses measure 2.5" in diameter and 3/4" in height. They weight 124 grams and 137 grams. These glasses belonged to my grand mother and were given to me upon her death in 1965.
