The incredible rosewood banding along the drawer faces, intricate inlay along the top edge, and elegantly tall feet, all contribute to the unique beauty of this lovely Neoclassical chest. Along its petite size, this chest brings a stunning presence to any space it inhabits.
With such expensive woods and highly styled inlay, this chest was clearly made in a large, coastal city. The white pine secondary and small size indicate New England. Coastal Massachusetts or New Hampshire are the most likely candidates given the foot type, thinner drawer boards, and the sand-burned inlay around the rosewood banding are all consistent with pieces made in those areas.
A piece of this high style and quality in such great condition is not something to take for granted. We hope this chest brings you as much joy as it does to us! less
