William Watting for Fristho, sideboard, teak, brass, lacquered wood, The Netherlands, 1950s. Elegant lacquered wooden sideboard with teak top and brass detailing. Very slim tapered brass legs that come together in two triangle shapes that makes the design light and subtle. There is plenty of storage space, three drawers are situated on one side and a cabinet on the other. Working original lock with the key. Overall the sideboard is in a good vintage condition. Please, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Fristho (1921-1978) was a design manufacturer in the north of The Netherlands. Jean Baptist Merckx and Gustaaf Andries de Vries founded the company. They had a good eye for the time and at an early stage adopted both Scandinavian and American design. In the sixties, Fristho advertised themselves with being 'No. 1 in Nordic design'. At the same time Fristho was rooted in Dutch functionalism. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
