It caries … more This sheaf of wheat side table named 'Coco Chanel' is just as elegant en stylish as she was. It caries her name because she had a 'wheat' table at home, just as Yves Saint Laurent. For Mademoiselle Chanel, wheat was particularly symbolic: as her lucky charm, it represented wealth, luck and creativity. She grew up in the French countryside and was born during the wheat harvest. This affiliation with nature would resound throughout her life: she decorated her Paris apartment with various incarnations of wheat, and Salvador Dalí even painted his famed Ear of Wheat for Coco Chanel in 1947. This table is attributed to Robert Goossens but we also see sheaf of wheat tables and lamps attributed by Hans Kögl. Goossens was known as the favorite goldsmith of Picasso and Yves Saint Laurent and collaborated with leading names in fashion, design and painting. This table wears signs of age as oxidation and some cracks, but in my humble opinion these signs gives charm to this table and shows that it has been lived trough. The table is stable. less
