during her career, hörlin-holmquist created modernist and elegant furniture for numerous swedish design companies, including nk, nordiska galleriet, and möbel ab. She is best known for her "cocoon" chair (1959), which won the design competition organized by the swedish magazine bonnier's weekly in 1959.

hörlin-holmquist also designed interiors for public and private buildings, including the swedish embassy in new delhi and the swedish ambassador's residence in tokyo.
